Do’s and Don’ts of Virtual Book Tours to Promote Social Causes

Category : Uncategorized

Welcome to the 5th Virtual Book Tour stop of the Bullying Prevention tour!

Today we visit the blog of Eunice Nisbett, who generously hosted our article:

Do’s and Don’ts of Virtual Book Tours to Promote Social Causes

Here’s an excerpt of the article below.

When I heard book-marketing expert, D’vorah Lansky, introduce the idea of a virtual book tour, I was intrigued. Previously, I had purchased a press release done-for-you service to market our bullying prevention books for children. The press releases went out to all kinds of news outlets across the country, yet no book sales came out of it. The press releases were a waste of money because they targeted the wrong audience. The bullying prevention books, Stand Up Against Bullying Like a Superhero by Carla A. Nordé and Be a Superhero By Saying No to Bullying by Gerald S. Nordé, Jr., target an urban audience, and the news outlets did not reach those markets. So, I purchased a list of 200 children’s book bloggers.

That brings me to Don’t #1: Don’t cold call or email bloggers you don’t know to ask them to host a guest article.

I hired TechDoneForYou.com to manage my virtual book tour, because I run a busy literacy nonprofit in Washington, D.C. called Do the Write Thing, and did not have time to contact potential hosts myself. However, once we started contacting potential guest bloggers on that list, we quickly found that nobody replied to our emails. Instead, we decided to run a Facebook ad that reached our target audience better.

Do #1: Analyze your target audience, and find creative ways to engage with them via Facebook ads.

The New Assault on Bullying: Kindness

Hi folks!

Today we’re proud to announce that we’ll be traveling to the blog of Peggy McAloon, author, artist and speaker. She has kindly agreed to host our third stop in the bullying prevention virtual book tour.

Click here to read the full article, coauthored by Carla Norde and Gerald Norde, Jr.: The New Assault on Bullying: Kindness

Here’s an excerpt below:

In many instances when human beings interact, there is a bullying culture where some individuals use force, coercion, abuse, aggressiveness, and threats to dominate others. The same issues occur among children and teaching them kindness is essential for reducing instances of bullying. As illustrated in books like “Stand Up Against Bullying,” various forms of bullying such as verbal, physical, social and cyber exist among children and demand remediation due to their mental, physical, and psychological implications on victims. Among the proposed strategies is teaching children to be kind to each other since it has proven an effective tool for reducing incidences of bullying.

Bullying Has Become A Fact Of Life For Our Youth

Welcome to our Bullying Prevention Virtual Book Tour Stop #2! Today we travel to the blog of Dr. Amara Anne Onujiogu, who has generously hosted an article by Gerald Norde Jr. and Carla Norde: “Bullying Has Become A Fact Of Life For Our Youth.”

Here is an excerpt of the article:

Recent studies have shed light on the seriousness of bullying as a scourge among young people. Many adults see bullying as “just part of being a kid” and do not think it is a serious problem when it is.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that suicide is the third highest cause of death among young people in the United States and neighboring countries accounting for 4,400 deaths per year. More worrying is the fact that over 14 percent of high school students admit to contemplating suicide and about 7 percent admit to actually attempting it in the recent past. One of the biggest causal factors behind these worrisome figures is bullying. Youth are bullied for a variety of reasons, ranging from body size to sexuality and so much more. A recent study in the United Kingdom even found that half of all suicides in that part of the world among young people is as a result of bullying. This is extreme.

Welcome to the Living Story Books Website!

Category : Bullying Prevention

Welcome to the Living Story Books Website, the home of the Bullying Prevention Virtual Book Tour! A Virtual Book Tour is similar to a traditional book tour, where the author would visit different book stores, tell people about his/her book, and sign copies. A Virtual Book Tour travels to the blogs of other authors in a similar niche as the book, and the author contributes guest articles that the hosts generously post to their blogs. A special thanks goes to Connie Dunn for kicking off the Virtual Book Tour!

We are proud to announce our first Virtual Book Tour Stop at the website of Connie Dunn. The title of article is:

160,000 STUDENTS NATIONWIDE SKIP SCHOOL DAILY FOR FEAR OF BEING BULLIED

Here is an excerpt below: The National Education Association is reporting that one hundred sixty thousand students stay home from school every day because of bullying. This is a staggering number that underscores the seriousness of this problem. The Urban Institute’s 2013 study on bullying revealed 17% of students reported being victims of cyberbullying, 41% reported being victims of physical bullying, and 45% reported being victims of psychological bullying. The study further indicated that 25% of students experienced bullying on school grounds during the school day. Fifteen percent of students reported they experienced at least one type of bullying (cyber, physical, and/or psychological) at school once a month or more.
